About
In their words
What should someone expect the first time you meet with them?
We usually start with a free 15-minute phone consultation so I can learn a little about you, your home, and what you're hoping to accomplish. Most of the time, that's all we need to get started, but I'm always happy to arrange an in-home consultation if it would be helpful.
When we begin working together, I take a relaxed, judgement-free approach. Organizing usually begins with decluttering, which can be difficult and overwhelming for many people. Throughout the process, I share practical ideas and key concepts that help make decisions easier and build confidence. My goal is not just to help you create a more functional home, but to give you tools you can continue using long after we've finished working together.
What do people most often get wrong about closet organization?
One of the biggest mistakes people make with closet organization is trying to organize before decluttering. It's tempting to buy a bunch of bins and baskets to make everything look tidy, but often you're just finding new ways to store clutter. At Simple Joyous Home, I believe in simplifying first. Taking the time to go through your belongings and decide what you truly need, use, and love is the foundation of good organization. Whether you're preparing for a custom closet or organizing one that's already been installed, starting with decluttering helps you make the most of your beautiful space and create systems that are easy to maintain.
How much hanging space do most people find they actually need?
It really depends on the person, their wardrobe, lifestyle, and organizing style. Personally, I prefer to hang almost everything because I find it easier to see what I own and put things away. However, I've worked with many clients who find drawers much more practical and easier to maintain. Someone with a wardrobe full of dresses, blazers, and dress shirts may need more hanging space, while someone who wears mostly jeans, sweaters, and casual clothing might benefit from more drawers and shelving. I believe the key is understanding how you naturally like to organize and creating a space that works with those habits. The best closet is one that's not only beautiful but also easy to use and maintain.
What should someone budget for a closet that genuinely works?
The cost of professionally organizing a closet really depends on its size, how much needs to be sorted, and the level of help someone is looking for. At Simple Joyous Home, my organizing services are $65 per hour, with a four-hour minimum. Some closets can be completely transformed in just a few hours, while larger wardrobes or spaces that need more attention may take longer. I always encourage clients to think of professional organizing as an investment in making their everyday routines simpler. The goal is to create a system that works naturally for you and is easy to maintain long after I've left.
What kind of job are you the right person for?
I'm the right person for anyone who wants a more organized, functional home but isn't sure where to begin or how to make it happen. Some clients feel overwhelmed by their belongings, while others simply don't have the time or energy to tackle a project on their own. I work with people who want to be involved in the process as well as those who would prefer to leave the work to me. Whether you're preparing for a new custom closet, organizing a beautifully designed space, or tackling other areas of your home, I bring a practical, judgement-free approach and a genuine love for creating spaces that are both beautiful and easy to maintain. My goal is always to make everyday life a little simpler and more joyful.

How this works
When a partner finds a room that needs building rather than sorting, they call our designer and stay involved. You get one plan instead of two opinions. They can be there for the measure if you want them there, and they pick their own work back up once the install is finished.
What being a Preferred Partner means. One of our designers has met them, seen their work and vouches for them. They run their own business, they don’t work for Dream Spaces, and no commission sits behind a referral. We check in once a year.
Planning a space of your own?
A Dream Spaces designer comes to you, measures the room, and prices from a drawing rather than an average. Consultations are free, and we build everything at 73 Saunders Rd in Barrie.
